Sacred and Delicious

Lisa Cagan Mitchell

As a teenager, I never dreamed my creative impulses would lead me into the kitchen!  After a successful career in journalism and public relations for 25 years, I found that my energy—and my health—began to decline dramatically. On the road to wellness, I discovered Ayurveda, the ancient medical system of India, along with the benefits of its balanced—and delicious—approach to eating.

One of the joys of my life has become the creation of new recipes that embody ancient Ayurvedic wisdom. I have been fortunate to study informally with some of the most esteemed Ayurvedic masters of our time. I also work with my husband, Tom Mitchell, a chiropractic physician who practices Ayurvedic pulse diagnosis and herbal medicine.  I have led groups in meditation practice since 1998, and I cook delicious and wholesome food for groups of dozens and even hundreds.

It has become my passion to share the knowledge of Ayurveda, healing and well-being I have gained. After many years of public speaking, I am launching a new career as a public speaker  focusing on health and wellness while I launch my new vegetarian cookbook, Sacred & Delicious. I am also a wellness mentor, and I teach Ayurvedic cooking to support those who wish to create greater joy and well-being in their lives.

I live in Raleigh, North Carolina with my husband, Tom. We spend time with his adult daughter, Celeste, as often as possible!

“Along with kosher we have eco-kosher, bio-kosher and now Ayurveda-kosher. Each one leads to a higher degree of honoring creation and our own bodies. Enjoy what you will cook up with this guide.”
